Matron for Clinical Services

Are you an experienced registered nurse with a passion for compassionate leadership and high-quality, person-centred care? Bring your clinical expertise and vision to Arthur Rank Hospice Charity and help shape services for people living with advanced serious illness and those approaching the end of life.

We are seeking a Matron for Clinical Services to provide visible, supportive leadership across our clinical services. Connecting strategic priorities with day-to-day practice, you will help ensure that patients and those important to them remain at the heart of everything we do.

About the role

Working closely with the Clinical Services Director/Deputy CEO, Medical Director and service managers, you will lead improvements in clinical quality, champion innovation and support the delivery of safe, effective and sustainable care across our clinical services.

Your role will include:

  • Providing strategic leadership and direction across our clinical service areas to ensure care delivery and compliance with standards and best practice
  • Inspiring and developing multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of compassion, collaboration and continuous learning.
  • Strengthening clinical governance, patient safety and evidence-based practice.
  • Working with patients, families and communities to shape responsive services and improve equitable access to care.
  • Building partnerships across health, social care and the voluntary sector to support joined-up palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Supporting effective workforce and resource management, deputising for the Director of Clinical Services and participating in the senior management on-call rota.
  • Supporting with budget establishment and monitoring for clinical care

About you

You will be a registered nurse with extensive post-qualification experience, including experience at a senior clinical level. You will bring a track record of leading teams, delivering service improvements and building effective partnerships.

You will have a master’s degree, or equivalent demonstrable experience and knowledge, in a palliative care-related subject, together with leadership or management training and evidence of continuing professional development.

Above all, you will share our commitment to Compassion, Caring, Excellence and Community.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to influence care beyond an individual service—supporting colleagues, strengthening partnerships and helping shape palliative and end-of-life care across our clinical services.

If you are motivated by making a meaningful difference to patients, families and clinical teams, we would love to hear from you.
